Mysterious Dog Respiratory Illness Sparks Concern among Pet Owners In recent weeks
A mysterious respiratory illness in dogs has raised concerns among pet owners and veterinary professionals alike. Reports of dogs experiencing respiratory symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, and nasal discharge have been surfacing across various regions, leading to growing attention and efforts to identify the cause of this concerning condition.
The affected dogs, belonging to different breeds and age groups, have shown similar symptoms, which has prompted veterinarians to suspect a potential outbreak of an unknown respiratory illness. Preliminary investigations indicate that the illness may be highly contagious, as it appears to spread among dogs that have had close contact with one another.
As reports of dogs experiencing respiratory symptoms continue to emerge, it is crucial to take proactive measures to minimize the spread of the illness and safeguard the well-being of our beloved pets.
Our primary mission at Bark If You’re Dirty has always been to provide the best possible food, supplies and supplements to our customers and to ensure the health and well-being of our furry companions. To address this growing issue, we are encouraging pet owners to be vigilant and seek immediate veterinary attention if their dogs exhibit any respiratory symptoms. Additionally, we remain committed to our standard of practice and want to put our customers at ease as we follow strict and regular disinfection of commonly used surfaces, to minimize the risk of transmission of illness between dogs. In light of this situation, we are emphasizing the following preventative cleanliness practices:
1. Regular Handwashing: Our staff is practicing regular hand washing with soap and water after handling dogs. This simple yet effective practice reduces the risk of potential transmission of pathogens.
2. Disinfection of Surfaces: Frequently touched surfaces such as water bowls, kennels, wash basins and dry basins are being regularly cleaned and disinfected after each use . We are using pet-safe disinfectants that help eliminate potential sources of contamination.
3. Isolation: All animals in our care are kept in separate kennels when they are not being serviced to prevent the spreading of illness .
4. Vaccinations: We encourage Pet owners to ensure their pets are all up to date with all vaccinations and proof of vaccinations are required to receive services.
Currently there have been no reported cases of this illness in Arizona , however we are confident that by doing what we are doing and remaining committed to our mission of pet health our facilities will remain safe for your pets.
